Ashtanga Yoga Berlin - Retreat and Teacher Intensive by Ashtanga Yoga Berlin

Ashtanga Yoga Retreats with Grischa

Advanced Ashtanga for All!

At Grischa’s retreats you get to know a traditional approach to Ashtanga Yoga that is still connected with the authentic tradition of Yoga as taught in the ancient scriptures.Β

An ironic comment "don't get stuck" on a supposedly "advanced" asana form. Is Yoga about a leg behind a head? Ekapadashirshasana.

Practitioners will gain clarity to ask meaningful questions to tell apart the rare Yoga teachers who have the necessary knowledge and those who don’t. Teachers will learn how to build up a deep understanding of Yoga. Teaching and practicing is the same in different stages. It’s a natural process, not a commercial one!Β

My mission is to restore Yoga as a universal blessingβ€”an antidote to selfishness, greed, and irresponsibility. By embracing genuine transformation, we can inspire one another to reduce social and ecological suffering and contribute to the global change our world urgently needs.

This journey is for the rare and invaluable true Yoga enthusiasts. Financial contributions are flexible: give what you can, and those with higher incomes are encouraged to support more generously.

About Grischa

Grischa has been teaching traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga since 2001. He opened Berlin’s first Ashtanga Shala “Aṣṭāṅga Yoga Berlin” in 2004. His main teacher was Richard Freeman. Read more…

Grischa Steffin from Ashtanga Yoga Berlin

His teaching is guided by the goals of Yoga as described in the classical scriptures such as the Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita and other texts. Samadhi is the key tool to Yoga. It arises from selfless service (ishvara pranidhana) only, never from a hedonistic, selfish lifestyle.

In 2019 Grischa founded the “Yogis for Climate Justice” movement. We are trying to re-establish Yoga as the open, non-profit, social movement that was until just a few decades ago when the capitalistic mindset took over and re-defined Yoga as an excuse for an utterly selfish way of life for rich people.
